What can I say about Nashville Pussy, the band?  These opening paragraphs always give me trouble.  Should I just make it really bland and tell you the names of the members, the year they started, and then list some of their accomplishments?  Should I rip off other Rock writers and come up with some rousing, ass-kissing piece of crap paragraph with sentences like “souped-up hot rod of musical styles, muscular rhythms, break-neck tempos and balls-out new songs that swagger, strut, stomp and fly in the face of convention. HIGH AS HELL (they’re new album)  is a southern-fried, finger lickin’ good, red hot platter of sexy, raunchy, high-voltage rock & roll.”   Or should I not even write one and just print the interview?  Actually, I think I’ll just do the lazy, demoralized, jaded Rock Journalist thing.  Nashville Pussy are a decent band that plays old fashioned Southern Rock that sounds sort of like Skynyrd.  And there are some hot girls in the band.  Here’s the interview.

Lead Guitar- Ruyter Suys

Bass Guitar- Katie Lynn Cambell

Drums- Jeremy Thompson

Vocals/Guitar- Blaine Cartwright

What’s the best part of being in a Rock n Roll band?  What makes this all worth it?

RS- The exciting interviews.              [ed.- If we had a dime for every time we’ve heard that one!]

BC- Long drives, no sleep.

JT-  We get to travel and play kick ass Rock n Roll.

What do you guys offer people that other bands don’t have?

RS-  Rock n Roll, the way it’s supposed to be done.

What would you guys do to change the music industry?

JT-  We’re revolutionizing the music business by doing things that have already been done, that no one’s doing anymore.

The last time I saw you guys there was making-out and fire-breathing.  Are we not going to see that anymore?

RS- Not unless someone learns how to blow fire.

BC- You could probably go to the restaurant that Corey [former bass player] works at and pay her ten dollars and she’ll blow fire for you.

Was it an amicable split?

BC- About as amicable as the relationship.

RS- Yeah, she was real sweet.  The last thing she said when she left was that she was going to punch my teeth down my throat.

Why?

RS- I don’t think I’m going to get into that.

I’m looking for some dirt man.  Well, what’s the craziest thing that’s happened to you guys since your band has “Blown up”?

BC-  One time we were opening up for Slayer in Glasgow, Scotland and someone vomited into a cup and threw it onstage and it hit the drums and exploded.  That always stands out.

JT- Some boring stuff like signing tits backstage…

Will you guys sign my tits after the interview?

RS- I don’t know if your tits are big enough honey.

So what’s next for you guys?

RS-  We got an album coming out at the end of May and then we’re doing some headlining shows later.

Are you guys not on TVT Records anymore?

RS- We quit them nine months ago.

JT- They’re more rip-off merchants than a record label.

BC- Beware TVT!

How powerful do you think music really is?

JT- Like if music were going to fight The Hulk?

Do you think it could make kids kill cops?

JT- I listened to Kiss and Ozzy when I was a little kid and I didn’t worship the devil.

BC- Music is entertainment.

Why do you think Dungeons and Dragons gets such a bad rap?

JT- It got tied in with those kids who listened to Judas Priest and killed themselves supposedly because of the music and then other little kids when they’re fourth level elves would get killed and then they’d freak out and go kill themselves.

We’re going to try something called Free Association now.  The way it works is I say a word and then you say the first thing that comes in your mind.

RS- We’ve all had therapy before.

Ronnie James Dio

JT- Sucks

Vomit

RS- You in about two minutes.                               [ed.- note, the interviewer was very sick during this]

This is boring, let’s do something else.  What legacy do you want to leave on the music industry?

JT- I want to put out a timeless kick ass Rock record.

Blah, Blah, Blah.  This interview actually goes on for a while more and since nothing terribly interesting happens I figure I’ll spare all of you.  Besides, do any of you really care what a bunch of non-Ronnie James Dio fans have to say?!?!  I certainly don’t!!  Oh yeah, and they’re not even from Nashville!!  Long live Dio!!
