Henry Rollins is totaly sweet. Read This If you could change something about the music industry what would it be? R--Less money. Less money: given to bands, charged for CDs, tickets, paidto> record execs. Bands would have to have the talent to get it in a fewtakes,> the labels wouldn't have to recoup so much so there wouldn't be so much> pressure on bands to sell lots of records. Less bands getting dropped, more> people goingto shows. More music. Less business. Do you think music has the power to inspire people to do bad thingsand if so should it then be censored? R--I have never really held with the idea tha music has the power to change things for better worse. As much as I would to never see or hearfrom the likes of Britney Spears again, I can't think censoship is a good idea. Are you happy with the state of music today? R--I consider the state of music to be what's on my stereo and what's happening at band practice and I am here to say that I am extremely happy with the state of music. As far as what's happening out there, it has not much to do with old folks like myself. Where do you fit in to the music world? R--Janitorial division. We do our thing, if it suits you, show up. If it doesn't, then don't. I'm happy with what I've got and what I do. What do you think of the current DC music scene? R--I don't know enough about it to make comment. I heard a couple of new releases on Dishcord, Q Not U and El Guapo and thought they were reallycool. Do you think there's too much violence in the Hard Core/ Metal/ Punk> scenes? R--I don't go to many shows outside of my own since I am on tour most ofthe time. I don't know what the overall violence quotient is at shows thesedays.I don't see many fights at our shows. When I do, it's usually me in them. Do you feel drug use is a viable source for inspiration for musicians? R--It's never occirred to me to use drugs to get inspired. Seems likethose who do a lot of drugs don't seem to get much music done. Why do Punk bands lose their credebility when they get big? R--I think because their original fans resent all these other people at the show and all of a sudden the band has less credibility. Music is forpeople, not just the hip ones. What is Punk Rock? R--A dead Sid Vicious with a mouthfull of cold puke? Who's first four albums do you prefer, Zeppelin or Sabbath. R--Probably Sabbath since I play them more often.
